HTP Performance Inc. is a motorcycle performance shop located in Richmond, VA. Specializing in Drag Racing, Owner/Crew Chief, Cecil Towner, has built some of the fastest motorcycles in the WORLD. This page was set up to chronicle Team HTP's Race Season.

HTP's nitrous-powered GSXR1000 once-again dominated in its class and claimed another MiRock Real Street championship in 2009. Already a record-breaking ride into the 7s, Cecil Towner is confident that his new hire, noted NHRA rider Ryan Schnitz, has the rider skills to take this bike to a whole new level.

Keith Thompson and Lavar Delee will now battle it out in the highly-competitive Pro Street Class. Typically a turbo-driven class, Cecil Towner has taken on the challenge of building a nitrous ProStreet bike. Despite the naysayers, he is fully confident that his 08 Hayabusa will be competitive in this class featuring the world's quickest street bikes.

Schnitz is Back and HTP's Got Him!

MiRock Superbike Series champion team HTP Performance and multi-time AMA Dragbike champion Ryan Schnitz have partnered up for the 2010 season. Schnitz—who not too many years ago was known as “The 7 Second Kid”—spent the last few years building his business, raising a family, and with legendary builder/tuner Rob Muzzy competing sporadically on the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle circuit. But this year he’ll throw his leg over the two-time MiRock Real Street championship-winning 2007 Suzuki GSXR1000 ridden to those titles by Keith Thompson. Read more...

Tragedy Strikes HTP

September 23, 2009. After their return from Rockingham Dragway, it was business-as-usual at HTP Performance Inc. Owner/Crew Chief Cecil Towner went back to the dyno and turning wrenches. Unfortunately, a customer improperly-installed his sidewinder and left his bike to be dyno tuned. The oil cooler line lying on the headers of his new exhaust caught fire and engulfed the bike... and Cecil. He received third degree burns to his right leg and spent 2 weeks in the Critical Care Hospital of MCV. His father, and team member, "Big Cec" stepped up and ran the shop and race program while Cecil was in the hospital. They travelled to MIR to compete, knowing they had to do well to secure the points lead. Cecil would call each round to instruct his father of tune adjustments and ride suggestions from his hospital bed. It was an amazing team effort that resulted in a WIN for HTP in Maryland. Keith Thompson has now greatened his points lead in the MIROCK series. Entering the Finals in November, Keith needs only to qualify and win one round in order to claim the Championship for the second year in a row. Team HTP was also without Cecil on their trip to the AMA race in Norwalk, OH. They didn't come home with a win at the Track or Treat Nationals, but managed to increase their points lead in the series. Keith Thompson and Jeremy Teasley have been battling for the number one spot all season and it will come down to the Finals November 13-14 in Valdosta, GA.
